Course Objectives:
Course objectives – To ensure trainees have an understanding of
Explain the hazards of working at height and outline the precautions necessary to control them
Explain safe working practices for access equipment and roof work
Outline control measures necessary to protect other persons not involved in the work at height
Outline control measures to reduce risk when working over or near water
Key Topics Covered:
- Examples of accidents that have occurred from working at height and the subsequent outcomes
- What does the law say about working at height (The Work at Height Regs) and managers / supervisors responsibilities under legislation
- What activities would be included in the Work at Height Regs
- Construction hazards and controls from working at height
- Safe working practices for access equipment and roof work including the use of; – Ladders, stepladders, trestles – Fixed scaffolding – Mobile tower scaffolding – Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) – Fall arrest equipment – safety harnesses – safety nets – air bags – Emergency procedures (including rescue) 6 Protection of others
